i felt bad i hadn't met him yet so after talking to his girlfriend, i messaged him and asked him if he had a big belly burger in his gotham since he thought i was conner when i said i was superboy.

i don't know. i guess his world's superboy? he said he came from the worst gotham so i asked if he had a big belly burger because if they don't then that's definitely a bad gotham

...that's why he's upset with you?

well i asked him some other things. like if he had a justice league cause he said his batman doesn't have friends or do teams. then he told me what happened to him back in his gotham and said i shouldn't trust adults and to only trust myself, not even you.

[newsbeat]

Huh. For the record: I don't think that's good advice.
But I also think it'd be a good idea to leave him alone for a little while.
You didn't do anything wrong reaching out to him, but sometimes people don't want to talk about themselves.

i was just letting him know there's nothing wrong with trusting people and that you can't go around assuming the worst in everyone because you'll miss seeing the good in people, too. and i told him people who do bad things should be held accountable for that but you can't just assume everyone is going to do something bad.

[newsbeat]

All of that is true. But sometimes people aren't ready to hear certain truths. Or they just don't want to.

he told me not to trust you. i told him he was wrong and that i can and so can he.

[newsbeat]

That kind of thing can be scary to people who've learned that trusting people can turn out badly.

[solarson]

but he's wrong. you can be trusted.

[newsbeat]

I certainly like to think so. But you can't force people to believe it.

[solarson]

well i can tell him when he’s wrong.

You can. But sometimes that doesn't help.

No, you're not grounded.

To get grounded, you'd have to do something a lot worse than be maybe a little too stubborn sticking up for people. That's the kind of thing that takes time to learn. Heck, sometimes I'm still learning myself.

i just got so darn mad that he said i couldn't trust you.

[newsbeat]

I know. I'd be mad if someone said the same thing about your mom. But we can't let our emotions do the driving for us.

[solarson]
