Huh. For the record: I don't think that's good advice. But I also think it'd be a good idea to leave him alone for a little while. You didn't do anything wrong reaching out to him, but sometimes people don't want to talk about themselves.
i was just letting him know there's nothing wrong with trusting people and that you can't go around assuming the worst in everyone because you'll miss seeing the good in people, too. and i told him people who do bad things should be held accountable for that but you can't just assume everyone is going to do something bad.
To get grounded, you'd have to do something a lot worse than be maybe a little too stubborn sticking up for people. That's the kind of thing that takes time to learn. Heck, sometimes I'm still learning myself.
