jon’s been at the base for a little now. bags of snacks laid out, comics scattered across the floor. he’s playing with his gameboy he’d brought back with him from that other earth after having taken a break from moving some things around in the base. mostly gym equipment. but also, he has some headphones on over his head and a cd player playing some music while he plays his game. laying on the floor. shoes kicked off and feet crossed at his ankles. no point in even trying to make a getaway. damian would find him. )
( unfortunately for everyone involved, damian is stubborn enough to track down jon to the ends of this planet if it meant getting to resolve this. . . issue. so jon's plan to stay put ultimately saves them both a lot of time - either attempting to hide, or attempting to track a ten year old kryptonian who is running rampant.
not that it matters regardless. damian finds the pod, makes his way down into the underwater "fortress of attitude" as jon likes to call it, and waits until the pod is safely parked inside before pulling himself up and out of it to -
- find jon covered in unhealthy snacks and comics.
he lets out a sigh, jumping down from the pod's open doorway so he can make his way over to jon and drop down onto the ground beside beside him in a low squat. he looks over to the gameboy, leaning into jon's space but says nothing just yet. )
( he's working his way through the level on his game when he glances up from it for just a moment when he hears damian's arrival. there's no point in taking off or hiding as damian called him out on referred to it as and he's not really mad or anything. he's just... doing stuff on his own. that's all.
when the other comes up beside him and squats down like he does, he lifts a brow as he glances over to him before he goes and pushes down his headphones to around his neck. )
You know I could hear you even with the music on.
( which... sort of sucks but also is good but... also still kind of sucks. )

( a snort, but he's - still leaning into jon's space, even if he isn't pressing in as much when jon's attention is on him and the headset is off. damian's telling the truth, too: jon is half kryptonian, isn't he? as long as there isn't something intentionally turning off his birthright abilities, damian assumes he cannot hide from him without putting in a substantial amount of effort on his part. )
( this is the worst part about talking to someone: the talking portion of it. jon looks to him, and damian presses his lips together into a thin line. considers his wording carefully because he knows himself too well to just - say it the way he wants to. )
( he glances back down to his gameboy, fiddles with it a little, before he gives a shrug. )
I mean, it was dumb, so.
( that’s what he’s telling himself now anyways. leave it to damian and accelerator to take his valentines as something weird and unnecessary when he’d only wanted to include them and show them he’d thought of them. sure, maybe it WAS silly, but. well. he hadn’t really thought so. but does now. )
( no need to censor that. jon already knows, but damian isn't - he doesn't say it harshly. his voice is as soft-toned as it gets, and he's not moving away from jonathan any. )
But that does not mean it was. Your traditions are not ones I am accustomed to, but that doesn't make them wrong.

I was just doing something nice and you’re darn right it’s not wrong. I just wanted to include you in it and the animal crossing one was funny. You know, fun? You probably don’t even want to do anything for my birthday next week.

My super hearing got real bad and I couldn’t block things out. My dad had to stay with me until I got a better handle on it. I figured being down here might not be as bad.
