If you want to do something for your birthday, I will do it with you.
( he's trying to meet jon somewhere in the middle. no, damian isn't certain he particularly wants to do anything birthday-like, but his birthdays were full of violence and blood. the likelihood of jon expecting something similar is small to none. )
I don’t know. Everything’s just been a lot lately.
( and it doesn’t feel right to celebrate when worlds are dying? when his might not “make the cut”? saving his game, he sighs and sets his gameboy aside, reaching for his cheetos that he shoves a handful into his mouth. )
My super hearing got real bad and I couldn’t block things out. My dad had to stay with me until I got a better handle on it. I figured being down here might not be as bad.
( perhaps the shade of difference he has between himself and jon is different than what most people would consider, but it fits all the same. they are different. grew up differently. have different skill sets, different limitations, different strengths. it's what he assumes makes them a good team, during jon's time. )
I cannot imagine adjusting to being able to hear everything versus having something more akin to average human senses would make it any easier. And being here is - difficult. Nothing is as it should be, no one is as they should be. Nothing quite matches up to our expectations, which makes adjusting even harder.
